TANDARA FROM LIVNO – FILIP’S BRANCH

The Filip branch may be connected with the family of Ivan Tandara from Ričice, but the available documents do not yet confirm such a relationship. To prove this assumption, DNA samples from descendants of both Tandara branches would need to be analysed.

Filip is therefore assigned the designation 5.0 as a possible fifth son of Ivan Tandara, who was born around 1695 in Ričice. His children bear the designations 5.1–5.4, and each subsequent generation receives an additional number based on its parent.

Note: The original text states that Jakov had daughters named Josipa, Pera and Kata. Therefore, the designation 5.3.1 is assigned to Josipa — daughter of Jakov, not to a male Josip — son of Jakov.

Origin of Filip’s Line

Filip Tandarić is mentioned in 1768 as a resident of the village of Lipa in the Livno parish, where he lived with his family of eight. It is not known where he came from or when he arrived in Lipa, because no direct written records concerning this have yet been found.

Nevertheless, several indications support the assumption that the Tandara families of Livno belong to the family tree of Ivan Tandara of Ričice, born around 1695.

Ivan of Ričice had sons named Jure, Petar, Ante and Mate, while Filip of Livno named his sons Mate, Jure, Jakov and Ivan. Filip’s son Ivan may have been named after his possible grandfather Ivan of Ričice, and Filip’s son Mate may have been named after Mate of Ričice. The similarity continues in subsequent generations, in which the names Ivan, Petar and Filip recur.

Because of these similarities, Filip is designated in this genealogical account as 5.0 – a possible fifth son of Ivan Tandara of Ričice. However, because no document has yet been found that directly connects Filip with Ivan Tandara, this relationship must be presented as a genealogical hypothesis rather than a fully confirmed fact.

The first record of the Tandara family in the parish registers of Livno was found in 1773, when Frane, the son of Jakov Novokmet and Ivanica Tandara of Lipa, was baptised.

The parish registers for this period are incomplete. There were no records of Tandara births from 1797 to 1802, while no birth and baptism records for children have survived for the period from 1781 to 1797. Nevertheless, the marriage and death registers made it possible to reconstruct a large part of Filip’s genealogy.

5.0. Filip Tandara — Founder of the Livno branch

Filip Tandara is regarded as the founder of the Livno branch of the Tandara family. He was married to Jela Bralić. They had four sons: Mate, Jure, Jakov and Ivan.
